Nanotherm LC is a revolutionary Metal Clad Printed Circuit Board (MCPCB) substrate for LED applications. Its unique construction offers the industry’s highest thermal performance for a MCPCB. Nanotherm LC’s best in class performance makes it ideal for thermally demanding electronics applications such as high brightness LED modules, Chip Scale Packaged (CSP) modules, Chip-on-Board LED (COB LED), UV LEDs, horticultural lighting and power semiconductors.
How it’s made
Our patented ECO process is applied to base aluminium converting the metal surface to an alumina (Al2O3) dielectric layer. This layer can be grown to different thicknesses to meet the electrical isolation requirements of the application, generally between 10-30µm. It’s the thinness of this layer that provides the exceptional thermal conductivity. With 10µm of Nanoceramic thermal performance is 115W/mK – far exceeding anything else available on the market.
A thin copper layer is bonded to the ceramic using an ultra-thin layer of adhesive (typically only 4µm thick) creating a Nanoceramic PCB compatible with standard PCB production lines that support MCPCBs.
We have an approved PCB manufacturer programme to ensure that all PCBs are fabricated to the highest possible specification. This programme offers a range of PCB manufacturers in a variety of geographic locations and can cater from small prototyping runs to mass production.
Finish and features
Industry-standard copper finishes, solder mask and feature sizes are all available. Nanotherm LC can also be produced as a double sided substrate with the dielectric surface and wiring traces on both sides. See our circuitisation page for an overview and contact us for full design rules.
